OFGEM
OFGEM (Office
of the Gas and Electricity Markets) regulates the gas and electricity
industries in Great Britain. Ofgem's aim is to bring choice and
value to all gas & electricity customers by promoting competition
and regulating monopolies. Ofgem is governed by the Gas and Electricity
Markets Authority and its powers are provided for under the Gas
Act 1986, the Electricity Act 1989 and the Utilities Act 2000.

competition in all parts of the gas & electricity industries
by creating the fair competitive conditions for those companies
and to enable customers to make an informed choice between
suppliers

areas of the gas and electricity industries where competition
is not effective by setting price controls and standards ensuring
value for money and a reliable service for all customers.

PER YEAR BY SWITCHING FROM BRITISH GAS TO A COMPETITIVE SUPPLIER.
IN ELECTRICITY, THE SAVINGS VARY BETWEEN £20 - £35,
DEPENDING ON THE AREA IN WHICH YOU LIVE.
